PennDOT says crews are replacing concrete traffic islands and mountable curbs.
"Traffic will be restricted to a single alternating lane in each direction on both Duncan Avenue and Thompson Run Road at the intersection weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through mid-June," PennDOT officials said.
Flag crews will assist traffic moving through the work areas. Drivers going in all directions should expect having to stop.
The project is included in a $2.5 million contract with The Lane Construction Co. of Pittsburgh for improvements on several roadways in Allegheny County. Work includes milling and resurfacing the roadway and shoulders, base repairs, drainage and guide-rail upgrades, pavement markings and other minor improvements. Overall work will conclude in August.
