McCandless Approves 2013 Millage Rate

The rate was raised from 1.15 mills, which was set at the beginning of the year.

McCandless Council Monday night approved the town's millage rate for 2013.

Town council had to wait until all Allegheny County real estate assessment appeals were completed, before setting a "revenue neutral" rate of 1.29 mills.

The rate was raised from 1.15 mills, which was set at the beginning of the year.

The law requires municipalities to adjust their property tax rates to prevent a windfall of tax revenue after the property reassessments are completed.
