McCandless Dance School Hosts Acclaimed Hip Hop Instructor

A highly-acclaimed dance instructor will be sharing his techniques with students in the North Hills after sharing the stage with some of pop's biggest stars—from Wiz Khalifa, Flo Rida and Kelly Rowland to Ne-Yo and the Black Eyed Peas.

Pittsburgh native Michael Lee is a hip-hop dancer, musician, producer and choreographer who has traveled the world imparting his artistic talents on dancers and audiences, according to a news release.

This summer, Lee will teach students of all ages the latest hip-hop techniques at the Bruckman School of Dance in McCandless, where he has been brought in as the hip-hop instructor.

Lee has performed on local stages like Heinz Hall, in addition to national stages, and his many credits and experiences have brought him full-circle back to his hometown.

This is an opportunity for dancers to train, learn and grow from Lee's expertise. Classes are not only open to Bruckman’s current students, but anyone interested in learning the techniques of hip hop-style dance.

In the studio located on Perry Highway, Lee gets his dancers breaking, locking and popping. Students take on active dance numbers and he treats them with dignity and respect, while commanding a high level of performance.

“If you don’t grow, you die,” Lee said in a news release, speaking to his mission of constantly improving his dancer techniques via hard work and dedication, while also having fun.

Bruckman School of Dance specifically focuses on providing students more than just dance classes, but incorporating confidence, self-discipline and character in every minute of instruction. 

Hip-hop classes add an additional element of fun and style to dance classes and are becoming increasingly popular across the country.

In addition to hip hop classes, the dance school offers offers year-round dance classes, for ages 3 to adult, including: tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, hip-hop/break, contemporary, lyrical, clogging, and fitness classes such as turbo kick, hip hop hustle and PiYo strength.
