McCandless Pet Products Store Hosting Free Healthy Pet Seminar

Experts will be on hand to discuss everything from fleas & ticks prevention to acupuncture.

Each year, Toni Shelaske, owner of Healthy Pet Products  at 9600 Perry Highway in McCandless, tries to say thanks to her customers and the community.

She does it by hosting an annual Healthy Pet Day in her store, and in the adjacent parking lot at the intersection of Perry Highway and Ingomar Road.

"My hope is to one day make healthy pet day a national holiday," she said. "It’s focused on healthy pets."

  • Natural flea & tick prevention
  • Pet food and nutrition
  • Pet acupuncture

In addition there will be many pet related vendors, a K9 Police dog demonstration, a basket raffle with proceeds going to local rescues, a pet artist & photographer, and prizes and giveaways.

Shelaske says there will be a special emphasis on pet nutrition.

“We’re all about pure ingredients, none of our foods have by-products, no chemical preservatives, no food coloring, no wheat, corn or soy," she said. "We specialize in raw feeding. So we specialize in feeding the dog and cat the way it was biologically designed to eat. So it’s literally raw, frozen meat, bones, organs, all ground up as meals.”

This is the fourth year for the Healthy Pet Day, and Shelaske says each year is better than the one before.

"It's like a big outdoor pet expo," she said. "It's a huge, fun day."
