North Allegheny School Board Considers Technology, Security Upgrades
Upgrades would include wireless coverage installed at all seven elementary school buildings, along with video phone systems and door access controls for all schools.

The North Allegheny School Board plans to consider wiring upgrades and security measures for its buildings.
According to the Post Gazette, the board on Wednesday discussed financing $4 million in technology improvements through a low-interest loan from PNC Bank. The loan would be financed over seven years at an annual cost not to exceed $610,719.50.
Projects would include replacing the network infrastructure equipment and upgraded data wiring for all seven elementary schools and installing wireless coverage in each district building, the newspaper reports.

The board also discussed hiring a consultant to prepare and oversee video phone systems installation and door access controls for all schools. Key card systems would also be installed at schools that do not already have them, those being Bradford Woods, Hosack, Marshall, McKnight and Peebles elementary schools, the P-G said.
The board plans to vote on the matters during at the regular April 24 meeting.
