Report: McCandless Police Filing Charges Against Man in Attempted Child Luring

School officials say the man offered a female student a ride Thursday morning.

McCandless Police have taken into custody a man who is now facing charges in connection with an attempted child luring, according to KDKA-TV.

North Allegheny School District posted a note on its website alerting parents that a female student who attends the North Allegheny Intermediate High School was approached Thursday morning by a white male who appeared to be in his mid-30’s who was driving a silver car.

The individual offered the student a ride, but the student declined the offer and the individual drove away. The McCandless Police Department was immediately notified, the district said.

Police said the incident happened in the area of Cromwell Street, KDKA reports. 

Investigators told the station they interviewed the suspect, who “acknowledged responsibility” for the incident and charges are now pending against him.

Authorities have not released the man’s name, KDKA said.
