HOLLAND, PA — The scheduled closure of Buck Road has been pushed back to Sept. 1, according to the Northampton Township Municipal Authority.

The roadway and bridge were originally scheduled to close beginning August 15 for the relocation of water and sewer mains. The closure is now scheduled for early September.

Starting the week of September 1, the intersection Buck Road and Old Bristol Road will be fully closed to install wet taps and make connections at both ends of a new waterline.

Traffic will be detoured using Rooksville Road, Holland Road, Churchville Lane, Bristol Road, Churchville Road, Street Road, Bustleton Pike and Bridgetown Pike.

In July, the municipal authority began work to relocate utilities in preparation for the widening of the bridge in 2026 by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The relocation of the utility lines is in preparation for the widening of the bridge, which is scheduled to begin next summer under a PennDOT project.

“Everything will be open up to the businesses at the bridge,” said assistant township manager William Wert. “Unfortunately, it will be an inconvenience for motorists for the next year and a half to two years. We will do what we can to get through it and by providing updates as the project moves along.”
