Council Rock Recognizes Cardiac Response Team For Lifesaving Actions
The incident unfolded last fall at Council Rock High School South when an individual suffered a coronary episode at the school.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The members of the Council Rock South Cardiac Response Team along with two students were publicly recognized at the January school board meeting for helping to save a life during a critical medical emergency.
The incident unfolded on Dec. 4 at Council Rock High School South when an individual suffered a coronary episode at the school.
“Thanks to the swift and skilled actions of the team and two students who jumped in to help the individual was successfully resuscitated and transported to the hospital for further care,” said Superintendent Dr. Andy Sanko. “It was an alarming and serious situation but the positive outcome is a testament to the team’s quick thinking, preparedness and dedication.”

He added, “The individual who was helped, along with the family has expressed profound gratitude for the team’s actions. On behalf of the Council Rock community I extend our heartfelt thanks. Each of them displayed extraordinary care and commitment and together they exemplified the true meaning of teamwork and compassion.
“Likewise we thank the first responders who arrived to the scene and their continued good service,” said Sanko.

School board president Ed Tate joined Dr. Sanko and Council Rock South Principal John Radick in recognizing the cardiac emergency response team and two Council Rock students whose lifesaving assistance impacted the community.
Recognized for their actions were nurses Michele Adames and Colleen Desrochers; teachers Trish Verdi, Kim Mahoney, Tray Balasco, Zach Schram, and Sivonn Simonpur; security personnel Vicky Smith and Ed Costello; secretaries Dawn Neary and Lisa Horsch; Student Resource Officer John Laub; and students Myles Daniels and Vince Valle.
