House Fires And Car Crashes: Northampton Township Police Blotter

These incidents and more were reported in Northampton Township. Read all about them below.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported several crimes that occurred in the area from Monday, Jan. 31 to Sunday, Feb. 6.

Monday, Jan. 31

  • Police responded to New Rd. at Jennifer Lane for a report of a single-vehicle traffic accident; the driver involved struck a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported and the vehicle did not require a tow.
  • Police responded to Bristol Rd. at Estate Lane for a report of a vehicle swerving all over the roadway. The vehicle operator was later taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence.
  • Police responded to Valley Dr. for a report of a fire. The property owner was standing in her driveway when police arrived; the woman said she was alerted by her fire alarm. The Fire Dept. then located an active fire in the kitchen.

Tuesday, Feb. 1

  • Police arrived at Starling Rd. after a report of a dwelling fire. Police spoke with the property owner, who said her pellet stove malfunctioned and smoke was filling the residence. Northampton Fire Dept. arrived on the scene and ventilated the residence.
  • Police arrived at Buck Rd. at Chinquapin Rd. for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident; one car was rear-ended by another. No injuries were reported, but the driver of the first car required a tow.
  • Police arrived at 800 Bustleton Pike for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident; two cars were backing out of their parking spaces and struck each other. No one was injured and no tows were needed.
  • A single-vehicle traffic accident was reported from Upper Holland Rd.; the involved driver struck a deer in the roadway. No one was injured and the driver did not require a tow.

Wednesday, Feb. 2

  • Police responded to 870 Bustleton Pike for a report of a four-vehicle traffic accident. One car hit another, causing a chain reaction where multiple cars struck one another. No injuries were reported and none of the drivers required tows.
  • A report of an assault was made, with police responding to the area and a suspect being taken into custody.

Thursday, Feb. 3

  • Police responded to Rock Way for a report of a two-vehicle accident; one car pulled in front of another and caused a collision. No injuries were reported, but the first driver required a tow.
  • Police responded to Newtown Richboro Rd. for a report of a three-vehicle traffic accident; one car rear-ended another, causing the second car to strike a third. The driver of the first car sustained a wrist injury and her vehicle required a tow. No one else was injured.

Friday, Feb. 4

  • Police responded to Newtown Richboro Rd. for a report of a single-vehicle traffic accident; a driver attempted to brake for a line of traffic in front of him and was unable to stop, causing him to swerved to the right and struck a hydrant.
  • Police responded to Sassafras Dr. for a report of a fire. The owner of the house said that their pellet stove was on fire. Northampton Fire Dept. arrived on the scene and handled the incident.

Saturday, Feb. 5

  • Police responded to Newtown Richboro Rd. at Township Rd. for a report of two-vehicle traffic accident; one driver turned in front of another and caused a collision.
  • Police responded to the 300 block of Elm Ave. for a report of a single-vehicle accident; one driver struck a pothole and lost a tire. Their vehicle was towed.
  • Police responded to Chapel Dr. for a report of a dwelling fire. The Northampton Fire Dept. arrived on the scene and located a burnt heating element causing a smoke condition. The Fire Dept. ventilated the residence.

Sunday, Feb. 6

  • Police responded to 2nd St. Pike at Sackettsford Rd. for a report of a two-vehicle accident; one driver pulled in front of another and caused a collision. The driver of the first vehicle required a tow.
