Northampton Police Log: Hit-And-Run, Damaged Mailboxes, & More

The Northampton Township Police Department responded to an array of reports between Monday, July 5 and Sunday, July 11.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — Between July 5 and July 11, the Northampton Township Police Department responded to 32 alarms, 32 abandoned 911 calls, 46 medical calls, 9 domestic disputes and 20 bookings.

The incidents detailed below include simple assault, public drunkenness, and unemployment fraud. Read the full report:

Monday, July 5

  • Police received a report of a burglary in progress at Village Shires. After further investigation, the suspect was cited for public drunkenness after entering the wrong residence.
  • Patrol responded to a residence off Holly Road for a report of criminal mischief. The complainant said that someone had knocked over her mailbox, breaking it at the base.
  • Police responded to a residence off West Patricia Drive after a report of fraud. The complainant said someone made a fraudulent transaction using her Mastercard. She contacted her credit card company and FedEx to stop the delivery.

Tuesday, July 6

  • The department received several reports of complainants being told by their workplace that an unknown person applied for unemployment benefits using their personal information. The complainants were advised to inform the Pennsylvania Department of Labor.
  • Patrol responded to South Timber Road for the report of a hit-and-run accident. The first car said an unknown vehicle struck her legally parked vehicle and left the area without leaving a note. Her car sustained minor damage.
  • Police responded to Hatboro Road at New Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car was in the left turn lane on Hatboro Road when a car in the oncoming lane swerved into his lane. He attempted to move into the adjacent lane to avoid being struck, and in doing so struck another car. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to a parking lot off Holland Road for a report of someone passed out behind the wheel. Upon arrival, police located the person, knocked on the window, and woke them up. The car was off and in park. After further investigation, police observed controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and took the person into custody.

Wednesday, July 7

  • Patrol responded to Brown Drive for a report of vandalism. The complainant said that sometime overnight they heard a loud bang and the next morning, they noticed their mailbox was damaged.

Thursday, July 8

  • Police responded to Buck Road at Rocksville Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car rear ended the second. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • A complainant reported that an unknown subject hacked her phone and possibly cloned it. The person also withdrew a significant amount of money from the complainant’s bank account. A report was filed with the bank and they are following up on the stolen money.
  • Patrol responded to a report of simple assault. A subject was taken into custody.
Friday, July 9
  • Patrol responded to Twining Road for a report of a one-vehicle traffic accident. The driver swerved and struck a guardrail when a deer ran in front of her car. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle required a tow.
  • Police responded to East Bristol Road at Churchville Lane for a report of a two vehicle crash. The first car attempted to pull around the second, who was stopped preparing to turn, and accidentally struck that car. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow. Police responded to Almshouse Road at 2nd St. Pike for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first car turned in front of the second, causing a collision. The driver of the second car was evaluated for injuries, but refused transport. That car required a tow.

Saturday, July 10

  • A complainant reported that her employer contacted her about an unknown person using her personal information to file for unemployment benefits. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor was notified.

Sunday, July 11

  • Patrol responded to Hatboro Road at Syracuse Lane for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car turned in front of the second car, causing a collision. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Both vehicles required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to a business off 2nd St. Pike for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car backed into the second. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.
  • Police responded to Hatboro Road at Pulinski Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car turned left in front of the second, causing a collision. The occupants of the second car were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
  • Police responded to Bridgetown Pike at Rocksville Road for a report of a hit-and-run accident. The first car swerved into the second car’s lane of travel and struck that car. The first car, a green Ford F-150, did not stop.
  • Patrol responded to a local business for a report of two people attempting to use a counterfeit $100 bill. The person who attempted to pass the fraudulent currency was a Black man wearing a black sweatshirt with a white stripe, gray pants, and a black gator skin-type mask. A Black man wearing a dark colored baseball hat, gray shirt, black pants and high white socks was with him. Police shared a photo of both people on social media.
