Northampton Police Log: A Mistaken Break-In & More, 7/12 - 7/18

The Northampton Police Department responded to 20 alarms, 30 abandoned 911 calls, 26 medical calls, 7 domestic disputes, and 20 bookings.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — The Northampton Police Department reported a number of incidents between July 12 and Sunday, including public intoxication and a security camera misunderstanding.

Monday, July 12

  • Patrol took a suspect into custody for an active warrant out of Montgomery County. The subject was processed without incident.
  • Patrol responded to Crossroads Plaza for a report of a hit-and-run accident. The car owner reports an unknown driver struck his car and left the area. Minor vehicle damage was reported, and no injuries were reported.

Tuesday, July 13

  • Patrol responded to East Bristol Road at Bustleton Pike for a report of a hit-and-run accident. The complainant reported that a white Econoline van attempted to pass him and while doing so struck his vehicle. The van did not stop. The driver was able to read a license plate, which came back to Budget Rental Company. Budget provided insurance information and was working on determining the operator of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Wednesday, July 14

  • Patrol responded to the 1500 block of Bridgetown Pike for a report of a traffic accident. One car rear-ended the other. There were no reported injuries. The first car required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to a report of a fire on Sackettsford Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a propane generator on fire next to the home. Northampton Township Fire Department extinguished the fire without incident.

Thursday, July 15

  • Patrol responded to Newtown Richboro Road at Spring Garden Mill Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. One vehicle’s ladder pulled a wire down into the roadway. There were no injuries reported and minor vehicle damage.
  • Patrol responded to Upper Holland Road at Bustleton Pike for a two vehicle traffic accident where one car rear-ended the other. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to the parking lot of a business off Almshouse Road for a report of a five-vehicle traffic accident. Someone lost control of her vehicle backing out of a parking spot, causing the five-vehicle crash. One person was treated for a minor cut on his hand. Two cars required a tow.

Friday, July 16

  • Patrol responded to Grenoble Road for a report of a local ordinance violation. The person who owned the property had an open burn, and was told it needed to be put out.
  • Patrol responded to a residence off Columbia Drive when a complainant reported he observed, using his RING camera, an unknown person attempting to enter his home. Police made contact with the unknown person when they arrived. He was from out of town staying at a neighbor’s home, He went for a run, and had accidentally gone to the wrong home when he returned.
  • Patrol responded to Newtown Richboro Road at Spring Garden Mill Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. One car went through a red light and collided with the second. The second car was treated for minor injuries. Both vehicles required a tow.
  • Patrol responded to Independence Drive for a report of a two-vehicle accident. A witness said he observed a vehicle back into another vehicle and leave the area. Police made contact with the fleeing vehicle, who denied the accident. After further investigation, the fleeing vehicle was deemed responsible for the accident.

Saturday, July 17

  • Patrol responded to a business parking lot off Almshouse Road for a report of a hit-and-run accident. Someone reported an unknown car struck hers while she was inside the store. There were no reported injuries. The car sustained minor damage.
  • While traveling on Almshouse Road, police saw a man stumble into the roadway. They spoke with the subject briefly and realized he was very intoxicated. They contacted his family to pick him up.

Sunday, July 18

  • Patrol spoke with a complainant about a lost wallet. He provided police with the location where he believed he lost it. Police went to the location and spoke with an employee who provided useful information. After further investigation, his wallet was found and returned.
