One Boot Stolen From Package, $10K Fraud: Northampton Police Log

Police responded to 18 alarms, 16 abandoned 911 calls, 45 medical calls, 10 domestic disputes and 23 bookings last week.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department responded to numerous incidents between Oct. 11 and Oct. 17. Read their report.

Monday, Oct. 11

  • A car was parked, unoccupied, off 2nd Street Pike in a business lot overnight. The next day it appeared another car had struck it.

Tuesday, Oct. 12

  • A complainant said two people were going through her husband’s car on Redwood Drive. Upon arrival, they were gone. Police surveyed the area and located an occupied vehicle on Glen Meadow Road. The people inside the car matched the complainant’s description. After further investigation, both people were taken into custody.
  • A complainant said that someone entered his car on Glen Meadow Road and stole several items from inside. The items were valued over $200. A suspect was arrested.

Wednesday, Oct. 13

  • A complainant reported a wave runner abandoned in a creek off of Buck Road. The wave runner was removed from the creek.
  • A complainant said he opened up a Bank of America account last week, and just learned of three transactions on his account totaling more than $10,000 that he did not authorize. The bank recognized the fraud and is investigating the incident.
  • An associate from a local bank contacted police about someone attempting to access an account that does not belong to him. After further investigation, the person was taken into custody for forgery, attempted identity theft, access device fraud and possession of drugs/paraphernalia.
  • Police responded to Bustleton Pike at Knowles Avenue for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident One car entered the intersection, causing a collision with another. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.

Thursday, Oct. 14

  • A complainant said she received a phone call from someone claiming to be from PECO. The person said they could provide a quote for Solar Panels. The complainant contacted PECO directly after speaking with the person and was told it was a scam.
  • Someone said boots she purchased online arrived in a package at her residence. Her son brought the package inside, and it appeared that someone tampered with it. When she opened the package, there was only one boot inside.

Friday, Oct. 15

  • Police responded to 2nd Street Pike at Newtown Richboro Road for a report of a two-vehicle car accident. One car pulled into the roadway in front of the second. There were no reported injuries, and neither car needed a tow.
  • Police responded to a residence for a report of an aggravated assault, where someone held the tip of a knife to the victim’s abdomen and forced her inside the residence. A suspect was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault.
  • Police responded to GameStop for a report of retail theft. A complainant said that a Black man about 6 ft, with a slender build and wearing a white hoodie, gray pants, and black sneakers and carrying a satchel entered the store. They said the person placed a video game on the counter to purchase, but then grabbed the video game and ran out before paying.
  • Police responded to Bustleton Pike for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. One car rear-ended another. There were no reported injuries, but the first car required a tow.

Saturday, Oct. 16

  • Police responded to Newtown Richboro Road at Rock Way for a report of a three-vehicle traffic accident with injuries. One car rear-ended another, causing that car to hit a third car. The drivers of the second and third cars were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. All three cars needed to be towed.
  • Police responded to Bustleton Pike at Upper Holland Road for a report of a two vehicle traffic accident. The first car turned in front of the second, causing a collision. The first car’s driver was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Both cars needed a tow.
  • Police responded to a residence for a report of a simple assault. A suspect was taken into custody.

Sunday, Oct. 17

  • Police responded to Spencer Road at Sackettsford Road for a report of a disabled car. Police stood by until the car could safely be towed from the roadway.
