Star Student: Michaela Excels With Miracle League In Northampton Twp.
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts, or volunteer service. Here's a resident who is making an impact in Northampton Twp.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Mary Camp who nominated Michaela of Northampton Township.

How do you know the star local student?
I am an Executive Board Member of the Miracle League of Northampton Township and Michaela has twin brothers who have Autism and are non-verbal who participate in our programs.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Michaela spearheaded the addition of a Communication Board at several area playgrounds, including the new Miracle League Playground located at the Northampton Township Municipal Complex. Her brothers are non-verbal and having the communication board assists them in communicating their needs and feelings easily. She wanted them to play freely without having to bring an assistive device and a communication board works wonders. She came up with the idea, of a fundraiser for the entire cost and worked with the township to coordinate installation. She is continuing her mission to advocate for her brothers and all with Autism. She is a 7th grader at Holland Middle School and she is an amazing positive force in our community. She was recently recognized by the Northampton Township Board of Supervisors and presented with a Certificate of Recognition for her work.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Michaela is an inspiration to others —when she identified a problem, she said, “Let’s Fix This!” and she did. We can all learn a lesson from Michaela that each person has the ability to make a difference and making a positive difference will have ripple effects for others to benefit for years to come.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Michaela!
