North Hills School District Schedules School Bus, Kindergarten Orientations

The is planning several programs to better acclimate incoming kindergarten students and their families to their respective schools.

The first day of school is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 6. The programs below are designed to ensure a smooth transition as the 2011-12 school year begins:

School Bus Orientations

In order to prepare your child for his or her first bus ride, each school will provide a brief bus safety presentation followed by a short bus ride for children. Students and parents may attend the program at any school:

•         McIntyre Elementary:  10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22             
•         Ross Elementary:  12:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 22
•         Highcliff Elementary:  10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23               
•         West View Elementary:  12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23

Kindergarten Parent Meetings

An informational meeting for parents and guardians of incoming kindergarten students is scheduled at each elementary school during the last week of August. The respective principal, kindergarten teachers, and support staff will be present at each meeting. Mr. George Zappas, director of food service, will also be available to answer questions regarding school lunch, breakfast and morning care service. Meetings are scheduled as follows:

• McIntyre Elementary:  6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30
• Ross Elementary:  6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30
• Highcliff Elementary:  6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug.  31
• West View Elementary:  6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31

Kindergarten Orientation

On Tuesday, Sept. 6, parents/guardians of kindergarten students are asked to accompany their child to school for orientation at 9:45 a.m.  Additional details will be communicated to kindergarten families via letter in mid to late August.
