National Retailer To Open First Pittsburgh Location In North Hills

A well-known retailer with only a handful of Pennsylvania stores is preparing to open its initial Pittsburgh location in the North Hills.

PITTSBURGH, PA — A national retailer is apparently preparing to make its regional debut in a popular Pittsburgh-area lifestyle complex.

Dick's Sporting Goods left McCandless Crossing last year to open Dick's House of Sport at nearby Ross Park Mall, leaving a large vacancy at the complex that includes retail, medical, hospitality, office, entertainment, residential and senior living space.

The large vacancy will be filled by two different stores, according to the Pittsburgh Business Times.

Sierra, formerly known as Sierra Trading Post, will take up part of the former Dick's space. The off-price retailer sells name-brand outdoor gear, apparel, footwear and home goods at discounted prices.

The other portion of Dick's will be taken up by a T.J Maxx.

Both retail chains are under the umbrella of TJX Companies, which also operates Marshalls, HomeGoods, Winners and Homesense stores. McCandless Crossing already has a HomeGoods store.

Plans were announced earlier this year for a Sierra to locate in the Great Southern Shopping Center in Bridgeville, but an opening date has yet to be announced.

According to the Sierra website, the chain's current Pennsylvania locations are in Erie, Exton, York and Dickson City.
