Residents Worry After Late Night Break-In at Ross Apartment

Four intruders broke into a woman's apartment while she was sleeping.

Ross Township police  are looking for four men in their late teens or early 20's who broke into a townhouse on Hilands Place around 2 a.m. Saturday morning.

"The woman who lives there was awakened by a noise, and discovered the four suspects in her living room," said Ross Police Sgt. Benjamin Dripps. "They told the woman they were looking for someone else, and some type of property. They kept asking the woman, where is it?"

Detectives believe the men were targeting a previous tenant, or simply had the wrong address. One man apparently entered the townhome, perhaps through an unlocked window, and then let in the others through the front door.

"These people were very brazen," said Dripps, "They were very intent on getting what they wanted."

Dripps said the woman convinced the four to leave after insisting that she did not know the man they said they work looking for. The suspects did not take anything and the woman was not harmed. Police believe they drove off in a dark colored jeep.

"The ordeal lasted less than 10 minutes, although I'm sure it seemed like an eternity to her," Dripps said.

"That would have been one of the scariest things ever," neighbor Heather Schramm told WPXI-TV. "I'm definitely a little shaken up. We have to young kids here, so it's definitely a little nerve-wracking."

The suspects, two white, two African American, are all in their late teens or early 20's and were wearing hoodies and bandanas. It’s not known if they carried any weapons.

If you have any information about this break-in, you are asked to call Ross Township police at 412-931-9070.
