Ross Changes Trash Collection Hours, Awards Paving Contract
See which streets will be paved this summer.

The Ross Township Board of Commissioners voted 8-0 Wednesday to shorten the the hours in which trash can be collected.
Board President Grant Montgomery was absent.
The amendment to the township's solid waste disposal ordinance limits the collection of commercial and non-residential trash to the hours of 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Previously, the hours were 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The commissioners acted after hearing complaints from two residents who complained about noisy, night garbage collections near three North Hills school district buildings.

The commissioners awarded the 2013 township road paving program to Youngblood Paving for $830,315.
11 streets will be repaved. Here is the list provided by Ross Township manager Douglas Sample:
- Seventh Street (3rd Ward)
- Sixth Avenue (3rd Ward)
- Jackson Street (5th Ward)
- Bernice Street (5th Ward)
- Peony Avenue (4th Ward)
- Rockridge Road (1st Ward)
- Smith Drive (5th Ward)
- Celmar Street (5th Ward)
- Malvern Street (5th Ward)
- Hilands Place (1st Ward)
- Peoples Twp. Road (7th Ward)

The commissioners also accepted a bid by Northway Car Wash for the unlimited washing of all township vehicles at a rate of $320 per vehicle. That is the same rate as last year.
