Ross Community Day Features Food, Games, Movie in the Park and Fireworks

About 4,000 to 7,000 people are expected to attend the event at the Ross Township Community Park. .

Ross Township's annual Community Day returns Saturday with activities planned from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the . 

About 4,000 to 7,000 people are expected to attend the event, which will be held rain or shine

Festivities will include crafts for children, games and face painting. At 4 p.m., a petting zoo and pony rides will be offered. Inflatable rides will be set up by 5 p.m.

Live entertainment will include Dancing Queen from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the North Hills Jazz Band from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. 

 will conduct K-9 unit demonstrations, and the Ross Township Historical Society will offer displays throughout the day.

A pyrotecnico fireworks show will begin about 9 p.m., to be followed by the final movie of the park's summer season: 1984's Footloose, starring Kevin BaconLori Singer and John Lithgow

About two dozen vendors will offer raffles, games and food such as hot dogs, kielbasa, gyros, pizza, pulled pork, hot sausages, funnel cakes, fried oreos and popcorn. 

Some of the participants will include , which will conduct job interviews; Sen. Jane Orie; Congressman Jason Altmire; and the Ross Township Democratic and Republican committees, according to 

North Hills Patch will be among the vendors. Stop by and say hello to , and pick up some free coffee and Patch merchandise. 

An indoor (and air-conditioned) craft fair will feature crafters and home businesses with wares to sell. 

Parking will be available in the  parking lot along McKnight Road and in the parking lots on Rochester Road. There will be free shuttles between the lots and the community center from 3 p.m. until the end of the movie.
