Schools to Perform in 51st Annual North Hills Marching Band Festival Saturday

The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Martorelli Stadium.

Nine area bands are scheduled to perform in the 51st Annual North Hills Marching Band Festival. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at , located along Route 19 in West View.

Marching bands from Bethel Park, Fort LeBoeuf, Franklin Regional, Hampton, Northgate, North Hills, Quaker Valley and South Park high schools will perform.  The event will also include a performance by the Robert Morris University band as well as appearances by the North Hills cheerleaders and dance team.

This year North Hills marks the 50th anniversary of its March Show with a salute to John Phillips Sousa, a composer well known for his American military and patriotic marches. The North Hills marching band will also present its Chicago Show, in honor of the band’s upcoming performance in Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Admission to the event is $5. Children age 5 and under receive free admission. Refreshments and other items will be available for purchase. Free parking is available at the Park & Ride lot located just north of the Perrysville Avenue exit of I-279.

The marching band festival is sponsored by the North Hills Instrumental Parents’ Association. In the event of rain, the event will be relocated to the gymnasium, 55 Rochester Road in Ross Township.
