Traffic Advisories for Areas Around the North Hills
Advisories affect weekend traffic downtown, Route 65 Lowries Run Bridge, I-79 near Wexford and the Liberty Tunnels.

Saturday Parade Downtown Reroutes Buses
The Port Authority will detour buses and change stops along about 40 Pittsburgh routes between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday during the annual African-American Heritage Day Parade Downtown.
The parade begins on Centre Avenue in the Hill District and follows Sixth Avenue before ending on Liberty Avenue, Downtown. Affected bus routes pass through Downtown and the Hill District and over Bigelow Boulevard.

Route 65 Lowries Run Bridge Turning Lane Closure
The turning lane between Camp Horne Road and the bridge that carries Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) over Lowries Run near Hiland Avenue in the Borough of Emsworth will be closed at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3.

The lane closure will continue through late November for a $2.9 million project that includes replacement of the existing single span through-girder bridge over Lowries Run, approach work and other miscellaneous construction between Locust Street and Beaver Avenue.
Motorists will still be able to access Camp Horne Road.
Single Lane Closures on I-79 near Wexford
Single lane closures will occur in both directions on Interstate 79 in the area of the bridge over Mingo Road (Route 4051) north of the Wexford Interchange (Exit 73) in Marshall Township daily next week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 3 through Oct. 7.
Crews will be applying a protective sealant on the new bridge decks. Two lanes will remain open in each direction while the work occurs. Lane closure locations will change as work progresses on the bridges.
The work is part of a $10 million project that includes deck replacements, latex overlays, expansion dam replacements, substructure repairs, bituminous paving, drainage and guide rail upgrades, pavement markings, culvert cleaning and stream restoration, and other improvements on several I-79 bridges.
Liberty Tunnel Closures Continue Oct. 2-6 in Pittsburgh
Overnight closures of the Liberty Tunnel (Route 3069) in Pittsburgh will continue from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday night, Oct. 2, through Friday morning, Oct. 7.
Crews will be performing water line repairs inside the tunnel, which will be closed to traffic in both directions.
The following detours are advised:
Outbound Posted Detour:
- Make right onto PJ McArdle Roadway
- Continue straight onto Merrimac Street to Woodruff Street
- Follow Woodruff Street to Route 51/19 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard)
- Make left onto Route 51/19 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) and follow back to Route 19 (Liberty Avenue)
- End detour
Inbound Posted Detour:
- Take Route 51 (Saw Mill Run Boulevard) north to I-376 (Parkway West)
- Take the Parkway West eastbound through the Fort Pitt Tunnel
- Bear right on the eastbound Parkway East (I-376)
- Take the Parkway East to Grant Street (New Exit 71A/Old Exit 1C)
- From Grant Street, make right onto Boulevard of the Allies (Route 885)
- Take Boulevard of the Allies east to Liberty Bridge and Tunnels
- End detour
Commercial vehicle traffic should use the Parkway East (I-376), Parkway West (I-376) and Route 51 to bypass the closures. Message boards are posted to guide commercial vehicles through this detour.
The $8 million Phase III Liberty Tunnel project includes concrete repairs, lighting system replacement, painting, and other improvements.
The 5,889 foot-long Liberty Tunnels were built in 1924. About 45,000 vehicles use the Liberty Tunnels on an average day.
