Archdiocese: High Schools to Close Until Strike Resolved

Students will not report to school Wednesday, Sept. 14.

High schools in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, including Pope John Paul II High School, will not open starting Wednesday due to the ongoing teachers strike. (Source)

Teachers have been walking the picket lines for a week as the negotiations for the latest contract continue. Students have been reporting to school despite the faculty absence.

KYW reports only Archbishop Wood High School will remain open Wednesday because flooding closed the school for one day last week. If the strike is not resolved Thursday, Wood students will not report to school.
