HS Janitor In Montgomery Co. Had Thousands Of Child Porn Images: Police
The now-fired janitor also took photos of girls in the high school and at sports events, authorities said.
RED HILL, PA — A former janitor in a Montgomery County school district has been arrested after authorities said they found images of child pornography on his phone.
John Soffa, 64, of Pennsburg, previously employed by the Upper Perkiomen School District, was arraigned on Wednesday.
A witness called police on Soffa back in Dec. 2024 during a girls wrestling tournament that was held at Upper Perkiomen High School, according to a criminal complaint.

When police arrived they found some 2,000 sexually explicit photos of children on his phone, between 3 and 16-years-old, authorities said.
There were also a wide variety of non-sexual photos of young girls, including high school students, on his phone, police said.

The school district placed Soffa on leave after the incident and he has not been allowed back on school grounds over the past year. He was later fired.
Soffa was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility after failing to post $50,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 17.
