Dear Members of the Ursinus Community:
Sunday, August 28, 3:30 pm. This is the first of a continuing series of updates on Hurricane Irene and its impact on campus. Presently, much of the campus is without power, and we are awaiting word from the Philadelphia Electric Company as to when power will be restored. The Main Street houses have fire alarm backup systems that are battery-powered, and they will not continue to operate throughout the night. Therefore, we are requiring all students in Main Street houses, except for Clamer Hall residents ,to vacate their residences between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. this evening. Main Street residents are encouraged either to seek temporary housing with friends in the large residence halls or to go to the Floy Lewis Bakes Field House, which is being set up as a temporary residence. Main Street houses will reopen at 7 a.m. There will be no access to the Main Street houses from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Our campus staff will be available to support students.
We ask faculty and staff to report for work tomorrow if they can safely travel to campus.
Please continue to check your email, phones, and the Ursinus website for further updates.
We have been fortunate apart from the power outage to be safe. Let’s give thanks and do everything each of us can to make the beginning of the semester go as smoothly as possible under these unusual circumstances.
President Bobby Fong
