DylanWatch: Local Teen Performs on 'America's Got Talent'

Judges credit him with a 'pleasant performance,' but express skepticism about whether he is the 'million-dollar guy.'

Acknowledging that they are toughening up their feedback this week, the America's Got Talent judges had lukewarm praise Tuesday night for Zieglerville resident and graduate .

Andre sang John Mayer's "Daughters" after a brief introductory video package in which he said getting selected to compete in Hollywood was "the most amazing thing that’s ever happened to me.” He credits his mother, Deborah, with his love for music and noted that she was offered a recording contract as a teen, but her father wouldn't allow it.

Howie Mandel was the first judge to weigh in on Andre's performance, saying he was good, but "a little flat."

"I can tell you've been doing this for only a year," Mandel said, but added, "I think you're really good; you shouldn't give up."

Undeterred by the chorus of "boos" from the audience, Piers Morgan told Andre, "You're not the million-dollar guy."

Morgan said he watches acts and asks himself 'Would I buy an album? Would I pay for a concert?' He said in Andre's case, "I wouldn't."

Sharon Osbourne said Andre gave "a very nice performance," but added, "I don't think you're very confident in yourself yet."

Andre took the judges' comments in stride, saying, "It's all constructive criticism, and I need it because I've never had it (as a musician)."

"It's really, really good advice, and I listen to every second of it," he said.
