Familiar Faces, New Names Enter Trappe Council Race

Trappe Borough Council will be decided in a May Primary Election battle.

 

 

Four Trappe Borough Council incumbents will be challenged by three residents – one who previously served on council – in a Republican Primary Election on May 21, according to petition receipts from the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Republican incumbents Marshall Stomel, Cathy Johnson, Nevin Scholl and Tammy Liberi have filed petitions to run again, and will be challenged by fellow Republicans Steven Kurcik, Pat Webster and Robert Swartley.

Kurcik previously served on council from 2006 through 2009.

Webster and Swartley have both been active members at recent Trappe meetings.  Swartley, specifically, objected to council’s fence around the borough's compost site.

Council president Fred Schuetz, vice president Paul Edwards, and member Lew DiPrete are not up for re-election in 2013.

Trappe Mayor Connie Peck and Trappe Tax Collector Gretchen Lawson will be unoposed in both the Primary and General Elections.
