Rat Pack Performer Bringing Big Band Gospel to Skippack Church
The free show will be held at Lower Skippack Church on Evansburg Road.

Dave Boyer, who under the name of Joey Stevens performed with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Jerry Lewis, will take the stage as part of the free GOD Bless America Outdoor Concert at the Lower Skippack Church on Sunday at 6 p.m.
According to Boyer’s biography, he spent the late 1950s and early 1960s performing in Atlantic City as an opening act and master of ceremonies for the Rat Pack, and even singing duets with the legendary group of performers.
Boyer, raised by a minister, lost his marriage and career to a dependence on drugs and alcohol, and he turned his life around one night when he was planning to commit suicide.

“God reached down to Dave and touched his soul. Joey Stevens was laid to rest forever, and Dave Boyer was reborn through the Lord,” says Boyer’s biography.
Boyer reconciled with his wife after two years, and in 1966, he began traveling the country with big band gospel music and a simple message: “You are not alone in your day-to-day struggles, God is always with you.”
