Graterford Inmate’s Death Was Likely Suicide, Police Say

Kurt Yeager, of Bucks County, was found unresponsive in his cell on Sunday.

 

Authorities say an inmate found dead in his cell at Graterford Prison on Sunday likely committed suicide, according to reports.

Kurt Yeager, 25, was found unresponsive in his cell around 2 a.m. on Sunday, and corrections staff were unable to revive him.

State Police believe that the death was likely a suicide, but that the cause is still being investigated, according to ABCLocal.

According to the Times Herald, Yeager was serving a two-year sentence for a Bucks County Burglary.  He was initially committed to State Prison on Dec. 19, 2011.

Yeager returned to Graterford for a pre-release violation; he had been serving his sentence at the Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Center, which was described as a halfway house in Philadelphia, according to PhillyBurbs.

Yeager was scheduled for a December release.
