Graterford Inmate Sentenced for Trying to Have Rape Victim Killed

Foday Philip Kanu pleaded guilty to the charge.

Foday Philip Kanu, who is currently serving a 16- to 32-year sentence at for the 2008 rape of a West Chester woman, today received a consecutive five- to 10-year sentence for attempting to hire a fellow inmate to kill that woman, according to a Times Herald report by Carl Hessler Jr.

In Montgomery County Court, President Judge Richard J. Hodgson Jr. handed down the punishment after Kanu, 37, pleaded guilty to "to a charge of solicitation to commit murder in connection with incidents that occurred between April and June 2010," the article states.

Assistant District Attorney John N. Gradel speculated that Kanu—a Sierra Leone citizen and former Broomall resident—will be behind bars for most of the maximum of the second sentence, Hessler reports.
