Hess to Sell Gas Stations as Strategy Shifts

The Hess Station on Main Street in Collegeville will be affected.

 

Hess Corporation announced a plan on Monday to sell off its retail and refining operations, opting to focus on oil production, according the energy company's website.

The decision comes at the end of what Hess describes as a five-year plan, though amid an attempt to fight off an activist investor, hedge fund Elliot Management.

A Hess Express station currently sites at 150 E. Main Street in Collegeville, just over the Perkiomen Creek from Lower Providence.

According to PhillyGasPrices.com, the Hess station is tied for the lowest area gas price with Wawa on Rt. 29 at $3.63. The next cheapest in the area is $3.81.
