Majority of Work to Begin on Godshall Road Bridge

Detour signs will be put in place by either the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

Notes from the Perkiomen Township Board of Supervisors meeting:

• Godshall Road Bridge Project

With the necessary easements now obtained, preliminary work is currently under way, according to Perkiomen Township Manager Cecile Daniel. The bulk of the work will most likely begin next week, and detour signs will be in place either by Friday or early next week. (See the PDF for the detour map.)

That stretch of road will be closed for most—if not all—of the summer (an average of 60 days), Daniel said.

The supervisors adopted an ordinance tying the local earned income tax (EIT) to the regional EIT, Daniel said. This move did not enact changes to Perkiomen Township’s EIT; things will remain the same for residents.

Daniel was also authorized as the township’s “contact” person for dealings with Berkheimer Associates.

• Ataxia Bike Ride Fundraiser

Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance Director Kyle Bryant approached the township for permission to use some local roads for part of an Oct. 9 bike ride fundraiser. The supervisors OK’d the use of Schoolhouse Road, Wartman Road, Kagey Road and Bridge Street. Bryant will need to obtain PennDOT’s permission for bikers to use Route 29/Gravel Pike.
