Mark Marino Pleads Guilty to Filing False Tax Returns

The former Skippack Supervisors chair is accused of not reporting thousands of dollars of income.

On Wednesday, Former Skippack Supervisors Chairman Mark Marino pleaded guilty to four counts of filing false income tax returns, according to a report in The Times Herald.

Federal authorities alleged Marino did not report nearly $50,000 of income on his 2004 tax return, and that his personal expenses were paid with corporate funds from Kane Core and Marino Landscape and Design, the report continues. These purchases were also unreported, according to the accusastions.

From the story: "'These payments include Eagles tickets, gentlemen’s clubs expenditures, golf memberships and expenditures, vacations, a housekeeper, restaurant bills, grocery bills and credit card expenditures for clothing, jewelry and other personal items,' U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger Memeger and Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul L. Gray alleged in court papers."

In light of his upcoming guilty plea, Marino last week announced his intention to from the Skippack Board of Supervisors.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Jan. 4. Marino "faces a possible maximum sentence of 25 years in federal prison, $1.7 million in fines and restitution to the Internal Revenue Service," according to the article.
