Moyo Yoga Kids Will Give Back to the Community
Students will strike a pose for area charities.
"Yoga is not just helping you; it's helping others."
With those words, one of the young students at summed up the school's impending, first-ever Moyogathon.
From 1-3 p.m. today at the Skippack studio, the community is invited to watch around a dozen youngsters do yoga poses for "points" that translate into money benefitting one of three selected charities. Donations will benefit the Montgomery County SPCA, Cradles to Crayons and Manna on Main Street.

The idea for this event was born in January, according to teacher Kelly Whalen. Each month at Moyo has a theme, and in early 2011 it was "community."
"How do you think we can take yoga out to the community?" the students were asked.

"They came up with this idea that they wanted to do a yogathon," Whalen said.
Sponsors--including local businesses--were collected earlier this month.
Attendees will not only have the chance to see the students doing their part to benefit area organizations, but the spirit- and body-bettering skills that yoga teaches.
"I think we should think more about community and the people who are less fortunate than ourselves," young student Emma said.
