National Weather Service Issues Tornado Watch for Montco

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Montgomery County, effective until 8 p.m. today.

An excessive heat warning is also still in effect until 8 this evening, when potentially severe thunderstorms are expected to roll into the region. To deal with the high heat index, NWS recommends drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air conditioning and out of the sun.

The organization also urges residents to "check up on relatives and neighbors" and to not leave anyone "unattended in a vehicle for any length of time during the day. Results can be fatal."

People are also reminded to ensure pets have—"at minimum"—access to a well-ventilated, shady area and water.
