New Vendors Attending Collegeville Farmers Market

This Saturday marks the official opening.

The following information was provided by Cathy Kernen:

To celebrate the beginning of the market’s summer season, Collegeville’s Farmers Market is holding a Summer Season Opening Celebration Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the market at 460 E. Main St. behind the AmeriGreen Gas Station in Collegeville. The market will continue to be held every Saturday until Thanksgiving.

The Market Committee has a very special day planned: Attend a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m., and then visit the market’s full complement of vendors, which is now double the number from the market's early Spring Market opening April 30.

Shoppers can sign up for hourly raffles to be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. for prizes and goody bags. A delicious “Taste of the Market” fundraiser, hosted by the men and women of Collegeville Fire Company No. 1, will feature Red Haven Farm’s flavorful pastured beef hamburgers and hot dogs, along with Collegeville’s own Bigg Dutt’s Barbeque sauce.

There will be face painting, special activities and prizes for all the kids, and the State Farm Good NeighBEAR will be giving away special treats.

The Summer Market now carries virtually all local fruits and vegetables in season, gourmet cupcakes and a range of baked goods, hand-crafted chocolates, artisan cheeses, local wines, cider, honey, herb vinegars and other homemade food and herbal products, fresh flowers, bedding plants, cage-free fresh eggs, organically grown poultry and products (sausage, burgers, pot pies, etc.), grass fed beef, pastured pork, grass fed lamb and a variety of meat products, gourmet dog treats, candles, crafts and more.

New vendors making their debut June 18 include Jenny and Frank’s Artisan Gelato; Frecon Farms freshly picked cherries, fruits, and ciders; and Pure Scents Candle Company.

“Our Collegeville market, which has been a hit with our area residents and families, demonstrates how the Collegeville Economic Development Corporation and its Main Street Program are actively working with the Borough, Ursinus College, volunteers and supporters to develop Collegeville as an attractive, vibrant, family-friendly community,” says Cathy Kernen, head of the Farmers’ Market Committee. “The market is here today due to the many people who have volunteered their time and resources to make it happen.”

Parking is limited on the market site to handicapped customers and drop offs, but there are more than 200 free spaces are available to market customers just one half block away at the Collegeville Borough parking lot, the Masonic Temple lot on Clamer Avenue, and the back lot of Sabre’s Jewelry.
