No Injuries in Lower Frederick House Fire

The dwelling suffered smoke damage; there's no word on the cause.

No one suffered injuries in a blaze that broke out in the back room of a Lower Frederick home at 30 Gerloff Road Monda, around 4:30 p.m., according to Fire Marshal Tom Gamon.

There is no ruling yet on the fire's cause, Gamon said.

Two residents were in the home at the time, and a woman made the call that "her house was on fire," according to another fire company member at the scene.

The fire was under control in less than an hour, and for the most part was contained to the back room, described as a "den." The firefighters cut holes in the house's wall and roof to better attack the blaze, Gamon said. The home suffered smoke damage, and Gamon couldn't estimate when the residence would again be livable.

While crews were on the scene, fire police directed traffic away from Gerloff Road at its intersection with Big Road.
