No Injuries Reported in Skippack House Fire

The cause is undetermined at this time.

Skippack firefighters and neighboring companies quickly controlled a fire that broke out in the basement of a home in the 800 block of Mount Airy Road in Skippack Township Monday evening.

No one was home at the time, said Skippack Fire Chief Haydn Marriott IV. The blaze was contained in the basement, but the rest of the house suffered extensive smoke damage, according to Marriott. No firefighters suffered injuries.

A nearby hydrant pumped water into the home; windows were broken, but the roof didn't need to be cut for ventilation.
