Pennsylvania State Police, Skippack Fire Company, Respond to Two-Vehicle Crash

In other cases, public information sought in burglary/theft.

A Collegeville woman, 59, was cited for careless driving following a crash in Skippack Township, Friday morning, according to a report.

According to police, Mary Smerecki’s 2002 Hyundai XG350 was stopped on the shoulder of Route 113/Bridge Road as a 2006 Hyundai Sonata--driven by Christopher Pick, 41—approached as it drove northbound. Smerecki then “attempted to turn left into the driveway for 1167 Bridge Road, right in front of (Pick’s vehicle),” according to the police report. The Schnecksville man hit the brakes and veered left, but “could not avoid” hitting the other vehicle, the report states. The two cars collided in the northbound lane, and Smerecki’s car came to “an uncontrolled rest” on the lawn of 1167 Bridge Road, and Pick’s car came to rest “facing northwest across the double yellow lines,” according to the report.

 Smerecki suffered a minor injury in the crash, according to police.

Skippack EMS and also responded to the scene; one of the vehicle's doors had to be popped open.

Police Investigating Burglary in Perkiomen Township

Police are seeking information from the public about a burglary and theft that took place sometime between Wednesday, April 6, and Wednesday, April 13, in Perkiomen Township.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police report, a person (or people) entered the residence in the 700 block of Queen Road “by unknown means,” and took an engagement ring and wedding band.

 Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call the Pennsylvania State Police Skippack Barracks, 610-584-1250, and reference incident number K03-1773466.

 

Schwenksville Woman Arrested on Suspicion of DUI           

Charges are pending against a 22-year-old Schwenksville woman for allegedly driving under the influence early Friday morning, police said.

Danielle Susan Pungitore was pulled over at Ridge Pike and North Grange Avenue in Lower Providence for a traffic violation, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report. Pungitore appeared “to be under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance,” the police report states, and she allegedly couldn’t perform a series of field sobriety tests. The trooper placed Pungitore under arrest and transported her to the Skippack barracks for a breath test, according to police. The test reportedly showed Pungitore was over the legal limit, the report states.
