Perk Valley Swimmers Compete at Mid-Atlantic USA Junior Olympics

Six swimmers from the Perk Valley Aquatic Club (PVAC) qualified and participated in this years 2013 Middle Atlantic USA Junior Olympics (JO's) March 7-10,  held at the spacious Gloucester County Institute of Technology Aquatics Center in Sewell, NJ. 

The meet included several hundred elite Mid-Atlantic USA swimmers, ages 9-14, from Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

This year's Perkiomen Valley Acquatic Club (PVAC) MA USA Junior Olympic qualifiers included Zach Alderfer, Emily Hodges, Kristian Stanczewski, Elizabeth Turner, TJ Yaglenski and Michael Yannantuono. 

Zach Alderfer lead the PVAC Boys to six individual finishes in the TOP 20 including 3rd in 50 Back, 4th in 50 Free, 7th in 500 Free, 8th in 100 Free, 9th in 100 Back and 11th in 200 Free.

Elizabeth Turner led the PVAC Girls with four individual finishes in the TOP 20 including 7th in 50 Back, 10th in 50 Fly, 17th in 100 Free and 20th in 50 Free.

TJ Yaglenski was battling a bad cold and fought hard to take 15th overall in 50 Fly. 

Emily Hodges placed 21st in 100 breast and injured her arm therefore had to forfeit her 100 Free event. Emily, who's been with PVAC for eight years, swam her final meet with Perk Valley as she'll be heading to Souderton's high school team next year. 

Kristian Stanczewski and Michael Yannantuono, from PVAC's undefeated SAL West Division Boys team, also particpated in this year's Junior Olympics.

Coaches Brett Amdor, Geoff Wilson and Brian Zeigler said that they are proud of their swimmer's accomplishments and are looking forward to the upcoming summer swim team competition with the Skippack Swim Team and Nine Oaks Swim Team in Collegeville.
