Junior Firefighter In Perkiomen And Limerick Townships Wins Statewide Fire Assoc. Award

A junior firefighter who works with both Perkiomen and Limerick Townships received a service award from a statewide fire association.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA — The Perkiomen Township Fire Company is congratulating a junior firefighter who has been recognized by a state fire association.

Dylan Moran, who is a junior firefighter with both Perkiomen Township and the Limerick Fire Department, is the recipient of the 2021 Hereda/Terrini Jr. Firefighter Award from the Firefighters’ Association of the State of Pennsylvania, according to a social media post by the Perkiomen Township Fire Company.

The department said that the award is given out each year to a junior firefighter who has “illustrated outstanding leadership qualities and commitment to the Fire Service in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.”

The post on the Perkiomen Township Fire Department’s Facebook page says that Moran was nominated for the award by Limerick Fire Department Deputy Chief Glen Russell.

The post says that the award was presented to Moran on Sept. 23 in Limerick.

“Dylan comes from a family of first responders,” the Perkiomen Township Fire Department said on Facebook. “Congratulations Dylan on this recognition!”

Moran’s Facebook page says that he is a graduate of Spring-Ford High school and that he currently resides in Collegeville.

According to the Firefighter’s Association State of Pennsylvania Facebook page, the Hereda/Terrini Memorial Junior Firefighter Award was established back in 2004 and sponsored by the Hereda and Terrini family in memory of the members of their family wo have served as officers in the state association and the Ladies Auxiliary.

The description of the award says it recognizes outstanding junior firefighters who are members of a fire company/department, forest fire fighting unit, cadet program or fire explorer group in Pennsylvania.

The winner, who can only receive the award once, receives an engraved plaque and may receive a traveling stipend.
