Perkiomen Valley Bands Play On at Reading Phillies Game
Schwenksville Elementary and Perkiomen Valley Middle School West students took part in the Music Night program.
The following was provided by Michelle Brown of the Perkiomen Valley School District:
A total of 72 band students from Schwenksville Elementary School and Perkiomen Valley Middle School West, grades 5 to 8, performed “Take Me Out to The Ball Game” during pre-game ceremonies at the Reading Phillies game on Tuesday, May 31.
The Reading Phillies sponsor several “Music Nights” each year. “Music Night” is a celebration of school music programs. Music students who bring instruments to the park are entitled to perform on the field and are given free admission to the game of the evening.
A total of 153 parents, grandparents and family members came to the game to cheer on the band and enjoy a beautiful night of baseball. The 225 PV students and fans filled an entire section at the ball park. As a bonus, Philadelphia Phillies’ center fielder Shane Victorino was rehabbing in Reading. He made three amazing plays from the outfield right in front of the band. The students performed admirably, and the Reading Phillies won the game 4-2.
