Perkiomen Valley Field Hockey Nets OT Victory

scored an overtime victory over non-league opponent Easton Area High School today it’s 2011 season opener.  

Outstanding goaltending by 3-year starter, Audree Bonavita (11th gr. - 13 saves on 15 shots) helped keep the Vikings in this tight contest.  She saved one of two strokes she faced in the game.  

The half-time score was 1-1 with Easton scoring first on a goal by Michelle Couch.  After an timeout following the goal, PV responded with Sarah Roos’ (11th) first career Varsity goal :22 later.  She was assisted by Chandler Geise (12th).  

The Vikings took the early second half lead on a corner shot by Chandler Geise eight minutes in to the half.  Easton did not lie down as Alex Rodriguez scored on a stroke six minutes later to tie the score at 2.

After some late pressure from Easton, the game moved to 7v7 overtime where the Vikings were able to win the game in the first seven minutes on a goal by Freshman, Annie Himsworth – her first career high school goal.  A strong play by Natalie Marsh (11th) to move the ball up the field and a powerful initial hit to goal by Sarah Roos created a scrum in front of the Easton net where Annie was able to punch it in.

Perkiomen Valley HS moves to 1-0 on the season (0-0 in the PAC-10).
