The first 10 minutes were played in the Dock defensive end with ball never crossing the midfield line. After a timeout, Dock came out and was able to mount some sustained pressure that earned them three consecutive offensive corners. PV kept the ball out of the cage and went right down the field to earn a corner. On the ensuing play, PV fouled by entering the circle early. Dock slammed the ball down the field and on the break away earned a penalty corner. They converted this for the goal on a hard shot by Hannah Bergey from the top of the circle. After a timeout, PV came out and pressured Dock for the remainder of the half but could not net the equalizer.
As the second half started, the skies darkened and PV played with a greater sense of urgency. The pressure was intense but Dock’s defense and goalie, Monica Roth kept the ball out of the net. Chandler Geise rang a shot off the post on a penalty corner play and PV’s offensive woes continued. PV kept the pressure on and pushed everyone forward giving up a couple of breakaways on the Defensive end but Goalie Audree Bonavita was there to clear the ball out. With 5:52 left in the game, Dock got a third breakaway and Mattasyn Shisler was able to put the ball in for the 2-0 lead. PV would not lie down and 2 minutes later got a goal back on a Chandler Geise blast from just inside the circle off a free hit. Chandler’s goal opened the flood gate – literally – as the skies opened up and the rain poured down. PV was able to get some pressure in the final two minutes and get a good scoring chance but could not convert. The game ended with a 2-1 Dock victory.
PV moves to 1-1 overall on the season as they head into their first PAC-10 contest on Friday hosting the Boyertown Bears.
