PVMS West, Skippack Principals Address Transition

After parents attended a Perkiomen Valley School Board meeting with concerns, Kim Boyd and Ryan Stanson-Marsh are assuring parents that the change is for the best.

Principal Kim Boyd of Skippack Elementary and Ryan Stanson-Marsh of Perkiomen Valley Middle School West (West) addressed parents regarding their transitions into leading each other’s schools on Friday.

Ryan Stanson-Marsh, principal of West, referenced Monday’s Perkiomen Valley School Board Meeting, in which several meetings attended to object to his departure from the middle school.

“When the opportunity to serve at Skippack was presented to me, I embraced it as well. I view my move to Skippack as an opportunity within Perkiomen Valley to have a positive influence on students at a different level and to gain experience that will help me, as a principal, to better serve the families of this District.”

Stanson-Marsh said that he “truly enjoys working with students as they transition from elementary to secondary.”

“Please understand that I am committed to Perkiomen Valley,” Stanson-Marsh said.  “This move is an example of that commitment.  I am looking forward to working with Mrs. Boyd throughout next year as we collaborate in an effort to continue the positive educational experience for students at West and Skippack.”

“I am respectfully requesting that members of the West and Skippack school communities accept this move,” Stanson-Marsh added.  “I am hopeful that community members will come to view this as a positive change not only for Skippack and West but also Perkiomen Valley as a whole”

Boyd agreed that the transition will be a positive one.

“I will greatly miss the children, staff, and families at Skippack Elementary, but I also look forward to the opportunities that await at the middle school level. I have been very fortunate to serve in various roles within our district – as an elementary classroom teacher, a language arts/staff development coordinator, and as a principal,” Boyd said.

“Stanson-Marsh and I will continue our efforts to ensure a smooth transition for Skippack Elementary and West,” according to Boyd.
