Rep. Joe Ciresi Recovers More Than $147K In Unclaimed Property
In 2020, state Rep. Joe Ciresi's office recovered more than $147K in unclaimed property for constituents.
PERKIOMEN VALLEY, PA — A Montgomery County state legislator announced last week that his district has the distinction of having some of the highest numbers of submitted unclaimed property claims, as well as the total dollar figure of those claims, out of all districts across the commonwealth.
State Rep. Joe Ciresi, a Democrat representing the 146th Legislative District, said that his office found and recovered a total of $147,122.63 in unclaimed property from 81 total claims for the year of 2020, ranking his office numbers 2 and 3 in total amount and submitted claims respectively, his office announced in a July 29 news release.
“I am very proud of the work my office has done to proactively search for and locate unclaimed property for residents in our community,” Ciresi said in a statement. “These 81 claimants now are in possession of the $147,122.63 that is rightfully theirs thanks to the efforts of my office.”

Ciresi stressed that his legislative office offers the unclaimed property service free of charge to all of his constituents in the 146th, and he urged citizens to contact his office if they believe they may have unclaimed property.
Ciresi’s district covers some central and western portions of Montgomery County, specifically Limerick, Lower Pottsgrove, Perkiomen Township and the boroughs of Pottstown, Royersford and Trappe.

One in 10 Pennsylvania residents has unclaimed property waiting for them, Ciresi’s office said, attributing that figure to the Pennsylvania Treasury.
The state Treasury reportedly holds nearly $4 billion in total unclaimed property, which includes everything from dormant bank and retirement accounts, stocks and uncashed checks to military medals.
