Report: Perkiomen Creek Nearing Major Flood (update)

National Weather Service predicts major flooding along east branch.

According to an ABC hydrograph, Perkiomen Creek has dramatically risen overnight to 14 feet. The creek is approaching 16 feet high. The flood stage is 11 feet; the water level is expected to peak at nearly 17 feet high later today.

The National Weather Service has predicted major flooding for the creek's east branch.

CBS news is reporting that the bulk of the storm has passed, but the worst of the flooding is yet to come.

No evacuation has been ordered for the area. At this time, the decision to stay or leave is on a homeowner-by-homeowner basis. Manager Cecile Daniel said during earlier this week that if things become too dire in the areas around the creek, Emergency Management Coordinator Bill Patterson would go door to door, advising residents to leave.
