Schwenksville Chili Cookoff Spices Up Hot Memorial Day

The chili cookoff took place at the Schwenksville Fire Co. Monday afternoon. There was also an accompanying flea market.

The annual Schwenksville Vol. Fire Co. Chili Cookoff brought the heat on Memorial Day, as attendees tasted, and tasted and tasted samplings of homemade chili, all to vote for their favorites in the end.

There were some mild ones, there were some hot ones. There was one labeled "Top Secret Hot." A favorite one, made by Schwenksville Fire Company's own Ryan Ziegler, is an award-winner—Zig's Caribbean Rum Chili. (Can you guess the secret ingredient?)

The chili concoctions did not stop at the adults; there were nearly as many young chefs offering their award-winning samplings.
