Volunteer firefighters from all over western Montgomery County assisted in fighting a house fire in Lower Salford Township Thursday.
LOWER SALFORD, PA — A large number of local fire companies, all volunteer staffed, responded to a house fire in this western Montgomery County township Thursday.
Harleysville Community Fire Company was dispatched to a home on the 700 block of Bergey’s Mill Road just before 12:30 p.m. July 22 to fight the blaze.
Crews from various area departments arrived on location to work to put out the blaze, which began on the roof’s home, according to information on the Harleysville Fire Company’s Facebook page.

A tanker truck was sent to the scene because there were no fire hydrants in the relatively remote location, the fire company stated. Photos of the home show it to be in what seems like a fairly wooded part of the township.
Firefighters were able to make a “quick attack” and stop the fire from spreading throughout the home, and crews stayed on location for an “extensive amount of time doing overhaul work to make sure the fire did not spread,” the Facebook post stated.

An incident detail report made available by the Perkiomen Township Fire Company, one of the departments who assisted in fighting the blaze, said emergency personnel received a call from one of the home’s occupants saying someone else was still inside attempting to remove a dog from the home as the fire broke out.
The caller had stated they were unaware of how the fire started; as of Friday morning, there was still no word on what may have caused the blaze or if anyone suffered any injuries in the fire.
More than a dozen local volunteer fire companies were reportedly called to the scene to assist in fighting the house fire.
