Skippack Pike Bridge Will Remain Open During Construction
Traffic over the Skippack Creek bridge on Route 73, located just east of Old Forty Foot Road, will not be detoured during the year of construction.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and engineers are currently in the design stages of rebuilding Skippack Pike Bridge over the Skippack Creek in the Evansburg State Park, and they met with residents to discuss the plans and solicit public feedback.
“The biggest concern from residents was about construction staging,” said engineer and project manager Jeff Griffiths, of HNTB Companies.

There will be no detours while the bridge constructions is completed, according to Griffiths and PennDOT project manager Judith Arena – lanes will be closed, but access will remain.
The bridge will remain similar to what is there currently, with the possible addition of sidewalks across the bridge for pedestrians entering Skippack Village.

Arena said that there is no funding for the final design or construction and, until the budget is decided on, the project will remain in planning stages. The earliest potential start date would be 2015.
“As funding becomes available, we’ll have a better idea of what’s expected,” Arena said.
