Stepping Up to the Plate in Memory of Sue Jamieson
Proceeds from the softball tournament at Palmer Park will go to For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation.

Skippack resident Dave Jamieson used those words Saturday when talking about the people affiliated with For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation, but that description could also be applied to the family, friends and neighbors who turned up for the first-ever softball tournament in his late wife's memory.
The Softball for Sue event at was part of the senior project for daughter Kelly, who is entering her junior year at .

Sue Jamieson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. She was treated, but it came back and metastasized in her liver, Kelly said. Sue died in 2006.
For Pete's Sake, which sends cancer patients and their families on all-expenses-paid trips to various destinations, offering them a break from the tough battle against the disease, treated the Jamieson family to a trip to Disney World.

"It was probably the most wonderful thing our family's ever done together," Dave Jamieson said in his speech before the tournament.
The family still supports the foundation, and Saturday's proceeds from food, T-shirt and other merchandise sales, and the $25 game participation fee will benefit For Pete's Sake.
