Trappe Pediatric Care Hosts Alex's Lemonade Stand
Annual event held in honor of patient battling childhood cancer.
Dozens of community members turned out for the third annual Alex's Lemonade Stand event held at from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today.
The fundraiser was held in honor of Trappe Pediatric Care patient Baby Claire, who was diagnosed with congenital leukemia when she was 3 weeks old. Now 7 months old, Claire's battle with cancer continues.
In addition to getting a cup or two of lemonade, visitors could experience different age-appropriate attractions from face painting to splashing in tiny wading pools, digging in some sand or buying raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes. Some of the donors include , , the , the Reading Phillies, Gerber, and . Children could also check out a fire truck from y and a police car from the .

The office's staffers were among the volunteers who handled myriad responsibilities, and a few brave souls took part in Patients' Revenge dunk tank. For $2, guests could throw three balls in hope of sinking one of the Trappe Pediatric Care members.
"It's a good cause," said billing employee Lori Lees, who manned one of the raffle tables. Lees said she lost her own mother to cancer 30 years ago.
"Anybody's heart goes out to anyone who has been (affected by cancer)," she continued. "This event is in Claire's honor, but it's for every sweet little precious child who goes through something like that."
